♠ Our Final Product


Well this is the final product that we came up with. Its a video consisting of a series of posters that makes up the movement of the plane flying towards creativity.

To explain our concept in brief, our concept phrase is
Creative Multimedia in Advertising, the media for conveying messages.

The plane acts as the symbol for message and we have the plane moving to represent the act of conveying the message.

Riding on top of the plane are objects which represents the current age of technology as well as representing Creative Multimedia. The variety of objects on the plane symbolizes the diversity of media making up multi- media and at the same time symbolizing creativity as well because the diversity of these objects/tools has created a bigger platform for creativity to strive in.

Lastly, we have the tail banner of the plane bearing all the logos. This symbolizesthe importance of advertising in creative multimedia in conveying a message. As the plane flies, the tail will follow, showing that creative multimedia and advertising comes hand-in-hand and is important in conveying a message.

The plane then flies off to the creative world represented by the bulb.

Title : ADVERTISING IN CREATIVE MULTIMEDIA

In this current era, computers, electronics and telecommunications have been merged to fulfill the global needs. The masses are aware or maybe not that whatever that being consume or access in our daily routine are all related too Creative Multimedia. Creative Multimedia can be separated to explain which “Multimedia” can be define as many medias being compressed into one category, while “Creative” is obviously something that related to art or design, entertainment or maybe education. Creative Multimedia is branched out to technology, media, creative and interaction or communication, as well as advertising.

The very essence of creative multimedia itself is to bring creativity into a whole new level by introducing various media and platforms for creativity to continue to strive. Creativity in creative multimedia means being able to create as well as being able to innovate. Innovation and creation are the two fundamentals of creativity. In the context of innovation, creative multimedia has the ability to innovate or in other words improvise on existing styles and ideas and enhancing them to become better or even bring out new inventions out of it.Apart from that, creative multimedia allows more room for innovation in the sense that there are now more platforms or media for creativity to be expressed. For instance, creativity can be expressed digitally through digital work or traditionally through traditional artwork. These artworks can be in the form of an interactive web, application or even packaging that is innovative and creative.

Creative multimedia has created the opportunity to explore creative arts in a very vast way and this opportunity is fully utilized in creative advertising. In advertising, it can be separate to idea, product, media, interaction and communication. Advertising is used in expressing and interacting with the audience. The producers use their creativity in attracting and pursuing the consumer to buy their product with the used of different kind of media. The interactivity content forms to convey or expressing information and messages of creative products. Creative multimedia in advertising is also all about creative ideas. The various media used in creative multimedia allow room for more new and fresh original content of ideas. Multimedia enables ideas to be presented uniquely and different from the rest. With the creative ideas, and unique presentation, this helps a lot for the producer to advertise their product. These shows that, Creative Multimedia and advertising is very close related.

Advertising is one of the many creative fields that actively incorporates and utilize creative multimedia to its fullest. Advertising is the form of media to communicate a message to its audience. The world of advertising is highly competitive with many large corporation and industry trying all at once to influence and deliver their message to the people. Thus, how the message is delivered is of utmost priority as the way the message is delivered has to attract the public’s attention. This is where creative multimedia comes into play. Creative multimedia provides many outlets for the advertising industry to convey its message for instance, through attractively illustrated posters, billboards, banners and the most effective of the lot, commercials or advertisements. Although messages can be conveyed in many different forms now, the most important thing in advertising still remains in the whole concept or idea of the message that one would like to deliver. The concept of the message has to be unique, original, fresh, economical and different from all the rest to stand out from the crowd and this is essential in a successful and winning advertisement.

Advertising is also an effective media for conveying message. Each of the advertisement comes with a meaningful message. Producer use it to communicate with the customer to deliver their product message and usage. Some advertisement which is creative and unique is able to grab the audience’s attention. Usually an advertisement’s message is easy to understand, simple, effective, persuasive and gives a lasting impact. Advertisement is usually shown on broadcasting media such as television and radio. It is also shown on printed media, for instance poster, newspaper and magazine. Nowadays, people choose to rely on finding information through internet. Thus, online advertising has been invented. We can see them on internet, like social networking sites. There are different form of advertisements, such as banner advertisement, classified advertisement, and Google advertisement. Producer can also choose to promote their advertisement by using email or also known as spam mails.

In my own point of view, as what has been mentioned above about Creative Multimedia has broadened the advertising . However, advertisements have its advantages and also disadvantages. Advertising can be misleading and they do not always tell the truth. Plus, advertising is the means for corporate companies to gain profits from the public rather than delivering the right message and care about the publics’ welfare. On the other hand, Creative Multimedia has helped the advertising industry to bring the creativity to another level compared to the traditional advertisements.

In conclusion, Creative Multimedia defines what art is all about in this century. This is because Creative Multimedia has widened people’s perception and knowledge regarding what art is all about. Advertising is vital in the commercialized world that we live in right now. This especially so since advertising plays an important part in communicating a message, selling a product, conveying new ideas and utilizing different forms of media. Thus, Creative Multimedia plays an important role in our lives.

♠ Week 8 - Random Word / Image Association

Random Word / Image Association
  • is and idea generation method which allow us to systematically generate new ideas through a fixed formula.
  • First, you need to find a random word. Then, you need to find associations and use the associations to create new ideas.

♠ Week 7 - exercise on Juxtaposition 2

Task 1 (given in class) -
During the class, we have been given an exercise that related to juxtaposition.
  • 1st step, 2 groups of number are given, and we need to choose 3 number that we like.
  • I have choose number 28, 39 and 54. After than i need to combine them, turns up (i) 28 -lightning wood, (ii) 39- ice rain (iii) 54- fire mountain
  • Making a sentence by using the combine words and sketch the situation out.
  • Lastly, using the combine words to form a new word and sketch it out. exapmle : lightningwood, icerain, firemountain.

Task 2: Describing the content that given in the slide.

Love is excite,
just like you have a taste on an extremely spicy and hot chilies.

Life is pain,
just like having a cup of coffee that perceived bitter taste.

Without credit card there is no life,
with credit card life will be much more colourful and meaningful.


♠ Week 7 - Juxtaposition 2

Analogy
-use different subject which have no connection between them, to explain something about.

Metaphor
  • which 2 different things are linked by some similarity. Comparison that are obvious are not consider metaphors. Different ideas are being connected in imaginative ways.Unlike similes that using "as" or "like" to make a comparison, metaphors state that something is something else.
  • example : I am a rainbow. (comparing two noun, person and rainbow without using "as" or "like"

Simile
  • Using "as" or "like"
  • example : The water is like the sun. (is an example of simile because water and the sun have little in common, and yet they're being compared to one another.

There are two categories of analogies, which were logical analogies and affective analogies.
Logical Analogies
  • which use similarities in the design, structure or function structure or function of to connect back to the subject.
  • example : Comparison of the whale and submarine. They both can dive to great depths but still need to surface for air.
Affective Analogies
  • emotional resemblance
  • Most frequently used on conversation to emphasis certain points.
  • example : He is like a pig. (because he is lazy)

♠ Week 6 - Example of Juxtaposition

I get to found on that the usage of juxtaposition in our daily life. There's a lot. Just like the example that show by our lecturer, The "Lost" season 1 had applied juxtaposition in the drama itself.

I wanna share with you all, another example of story that had applied juxtaposition which is the famous love story "ROMEO AND JULIET".

♠ Week 6 - Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition is the placing of compositional elements side-by-side, with the intention of comparing or contrasting them. Base on my understanding, with two idea or character, i can combine them or make into one illustrations. Juxtaposition can be apply in emotion, abstract concepts or character.

Contrast is a relationship between discourse segments.
Lecturer had given us an example on it, which is:

It's raining, but I am not taking an umbrella.

"It's raining" implies that the speaker already know that it's raining and will prepare for it.
"but i'm not taking and umbrella" implies that the speaker will get wet since he or she didn't bring umbrella along.

♠ Week 5 - Logical Mind Map and Associated Mind Map

This week, our lecturer Mr.Radzi had give us a talk about logical mind map and associated mind map. During the class, Mr.Radzi use mortal and pestle as and example on how to related it with both of the mind map.

Logical Mind Map
Using a logical mind map, we will only get a stereotype outcome. As we can see, since we think from a stereotype way, definitely we will only get a stereotypical kind of mind map. Everything will be think base on logically, it lack of the sense of creativity in it. If you want to have creative mind map, logical mind map sure cant help you on that sense of creativity. Let's take mortal and pestle as our example, you might get an outcome like mortal and pestle is use for making herb out.

Associated Mind Map
This will definitely suite for those people who want to get creative idea. Associated mind map will definitely give you what you want, it doesn't need a logical type of thinking, all you need to do is elaborated your idea out and diverged it into different outcome. Don't feel hesitate to write out your idea, who know maybe it will work even though it not a stereotype of outcome, but it works. Now we take mortal and pestle as our example again, we use mortal and pestle to replace the ring during the wedding ceremony.

Therefore, if you want to get a creative way of thinking you can use associated mind map, it depends on you yourself, whether you can elaborated your idea well or not.

~people in the future, place the mortal and pestle on the head, just make sure that there is few centimeter away from your head. Using the pestle knocking the mortal, sound will be making out, to make the people awake from headache.

♠ Week 4 - Divergent and Convergent Thinking

People who have divergent thinking can play with the problem and think for several alternatives way. It's important to know what problem u facing, in order to solve it, you need to play with it, take all the possibilities and expand your thinking in different way, therefore you will get different solution for it.

Unlike convergent thinking, people will only gather all the information and possibilities and come out with one solution. Mostly scientific thinking people will do so, or some traditional thinking people will have it, they don't dare to explore more, stick with one specific thinking and therefore they might only get with one solution.

I believe that a creative person will need to think with several alternatives solution whenever they have to solve a problem. I'm not saying that convergent thinking is not a good thinking way, it might solve the problem, but why not think of several alternatives way, who know it might come out with a good impact of all.

Coco Chanel was a visionary French fashion designer, style arbiter and iconic fashion figure.
She have left a lot of famous work before she left the world, one of it was "little black dress".

Chanel encouraged women to infuse classic elements, bold accessories and simple dress shapes to build a functional, yet elegant wardrobe. She even introduce menswear-inspired pieces that can be mixed twith casual chic into women's vocabularied and closets worldwide. Due to her designs, she have totally bring out a new concept of womenswear.

I believe that as a designer, he or she must be brave to think and take a brave step that normal people wouldn't do. Chanel dare to create women's wearing with menswear-inspired, and be able to create something new to everyone.

♠ Week 3 - Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention

Instead of reading the slide that provide by lecturer, I have to find some related definition from the internet to study more on it. Since i'm not really understand on this topic.

Novelty define the quality of being new and it is essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals. (*source-wikipedia)
For my understanding, novelty are usually define as something is being new by a person.

Creativity is a mental process involving the generation of new ideas or concepts, or new associations between existing ideas or concepts.

Innovation is the act of introducing something new. It can be new idea or new device.

Invention is the act or process of inventing. Invention is a new method, device or process that can be use for some specific purpose.

♠ Week 2 - casandra

Casandra, my kiddo looking friend. She's now majoring in Film and Animation.
Casandra, a bubbly girl. She is a very lively and cheerful person, she never tend to hide herself, she dare to talk and show herself out. I do found out she's a good story teller, she can create her own story very well. Therefore, she is now studying in FA.

I choose this picture because it's give me a feel that she is a cheerful person, even a simple smile can show you there is nothing is hide inside her. Everything is express through face, simple and nice. =)

♠ Week 2 - Creativity

During my advertising design class, the lecturer in my class have show us a slide about creativity. It's said that creativity is a mental process involving the generation of new ideas or concepts, or new associations between existing ideas or concepts. I do agree with that, we always hope to see something new or something extra-ordinary than what it's existing now. Therefore, we need to think creatively in order not to be left out.

We must have the ability to solve a problem, therefore a new idea or concepts will be needed. A creative person will think something that normal people can't get to think. I'm not saying that a creative person is insane, what I impress on them is they dare to think dare to try dare to explorer. Therefore, they get to find out the suitable solution or idea that impress people.

Observation, study, practice and play are the essential elements of creative growth. This is truth, without all these you can't get your idea or concepts with just sitting on there and think nothing.

People always want to see something new, special and different from the ordinary. Therefore as a designer for certain field, he or she will need to work hard to come out with outstanding work.

We often get to see advertisement in TV. Advertisement show us the info that it wanna tell. There are a lot of creative advertisement that we can get to see it daily. Not only info are tell, they even show out the creative that they work on their ads.

♠ Week 1 - Creative thinking

What is creative??
The definition of creative is having the ability to create. Creativity can be defined as new idea or new concept, it tend to be generate or recognize ideas, possibilities that might be useful in solving problems. In order to be creative, we need to view thing in different side, and generate new possibilities. Viewing things from different side will only let us more understand about the problem, and therefore we can generate new possibilities that related to it.

We have been taught that to think out of the box. Why we need to do so? In order to get a good or even excellent outcome, we must first think out of the box. Never put ourself inside a box and keep thinking with the same way, if not our idea will be restricted and wouldn't be able to solve the problem. As we all well know that children can think creatively than adult, because they don't know how to restrict their mind to not to think so. This is why sometimes children can think creatively than adult. To be creative, we must always try for something new, special, challenging, outstanding and unique. Therefore, we will only be able to create outstanding work.

People whom with a creative thinking, they will often done with outstanding work. Creative thinking not only can use in art work, it can be apply in our daily life style. Japanese often come with good design work, their work doesn't stop at one point, they care about the good looking design and even care about the usage of it. They dare to think, dare to explore, therefore they can produce excellent work. This prove that creative thinking can be apply in anywhere, it's not just related to art work.


If we want to think creatively, we must try think out of the box, don't think inside the box.
We might get to see something different. =)
